For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Sept. 2-5, 2014

All five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stocks decrease during the short holiday week.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services experienced the biggest drop — 6.02 percent. Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals also saw sizable declines of 5.67 percent and 5.08 percent, respectively.

Additionally, Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems' shares declined by 3.63 percent, and Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America experienced a slight 0.83 percent decrease.

•    Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $52.31 per share (down 3.63 percent)

•    Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.): $69.24 per share (down 0.83 percent)

•    LifePoint Hospitals (Brentwood, Tenn.): $71.00 per share (down 5.08 percent)

•    Tenet Healthcare Corp. (Dallas): $57.71 per share (down 5.67 percent)

•    Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $107.55 per share (down 6.02 percent)
