Florida HCA Hospitals, Humana Agree to New 2-Year Contract

The Florida hospitals affiliated with Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corp. of America have agreed to a new two-year contract with health insurer Humana.

The current deal between HCA Florida and Humana was set to expire in August. The new network agreement retroactively took effect Aug. 15. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the contract, more than 1 million Florida members of Humana's commercial, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and individual plans will continue to receive in-network rates at the 38 hospitals within HCA Florida.

HCA Florida is set to add more hospitals to its ranks. In July, HCA and Franklin, Tenn.-based IASIS Healthcare signed a definitive agreement, in which HCA will buy the three hospitals IASIS owns in Florida.
