Exeter Hospital's Red Ink Hits $15M

Exeter (N.H.) Hospital is looking to find ways to offset a $15 million operating loss from its most recent fiscal year, according to a Seacoast report.

In a memo to employees earlier this month, CEO Kevin Callahan said financial pressures are likely to continue for the 100-bed hospital going into next year, and the organization will "need to adapt and adapt quickly," according to the report.

So far this year, Exeter Hospital has offered early retirement to 90 employees, 22 of whom accepted. Hospital executives did not indicate if there would be layoffs in the future.

The hospital's full fiscal year ends Sept. 30.
