Government contractor and HIT provider Document Storage Systems won a contract to fix the Veterans Affairs problematic non-VA fee basis claims processing and management system.
Juno Beach, Fla.-based DSS said new operational enhancements made to its Fee Basis Claims System will improve the claims management process for the VA's non-VA care claims by centralizing data and automating the adjudication process. If the plan is successful, it may help veterans eligible for non-VA care receive aid more quickly.
The company believes new automated functions will reduce intake claims processing by 90 percent and reduce claims processing costs by 30 percent. The new web-based application aims to improve processing accuracy and efficiency by applying VA prelacy and pricing to automate claims adjudication.
"At DSS, our extensive in-depth knowledge of non-VA purchased care management uniquely positions us to provide a system to support efforts that ensure timely, effective and accurate processing of fee claims," said DSS President and CEO Mark Byers.
The functionality is being offered as an operational, maintenance upgrade to DSS' nationally purchased FBCS product.
