Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, has received approval from the statewide medical network's governing board to complete the transition of services from its old hospital campus to a new campus on the northwest side of River Road in St. George, according to a report from The Spectrum.
The medical center began the transition process 11 years ago when its adult care services moved from the 400 East campus to the River Road campus. With its recent approval from the medical network’s governing board, DRMC will now move its women’s and children’s staff to the new campus as well.
The approval also included plans to build a $182 million, 270,000 square-foot facility on the River Road campus. The expansion would be roughly 30 percent larger than the old 400 East facility, according to the report.
Terri Kane, CEO of DRMC and regional vice president of Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare, the system of which DRMC is a part, expressed excitement regarding the upcoming move and consolidation of inpatient services.
"We want to be able to flow patients out efficiently," Ms. Kane said. "We're going to have an amazing campus that will be state of the industry."
The strategic planning and design process for the new building will continue through 2015, and construction is expected to begin in 2016, according to the report.
