Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health has reported a $33.4 million operating surplus on $1.4 billion in revenue for fiscal 2014.
Even with supplies costs and expenses related to salary and wages rising, the system's financial results for fiscal 2014 were a significant improvement over the prior year. Cone Health ended fiscal 2013 with a $49.5 million loss on $1.1 billion in revenue.
The system's inpatient volume was down 6.7 percent in fiscal 2014, falling from 61,463 discharges in FY 2013 to 57,334 discharges in FY 2014. However, outpatient visits increased 8.3 percent in fiscal 2014 to 624,402 visits.
