Troubled Leadville, Colo.-based St. Vincent Health made payroll Dec. 9, but its financial future and that of its workers remains unclear.
Members of hospital leadership, who did not return calls from Becker's, are restricting themselves from making public comments on the situation and, in some cases, have taken vacation or leaves of absences, according to a Dec. 14 report in The Leadville Herald Democrat.
As a result, it is uncertain whether the hospital board agreed to accept 21 conditions Lake County commissioners had demanded in return for helping to fund payroll temporarily.
The county is also asking St. Vincent to initiate an evaluation of whether its former CEO and CFO engaged in potentially illegal conduct and to pursue legal action against them if warranted.
Lake County Commissioner Kayla Marcella, who has heavily criticized the hospital board and its leadership, did not return calls seeking comment.
