CMS approved a new payment code for the administration of remdesivir, an antiviral drug authorized to treat COVID-19, in an outpatient setting.
The approved Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System code is J0248 for administration of Veklury, the brand name of Gilead Sciences' remdesivir.
The payment code could be used for dates of service on or after Dec. 23, 2021.
