Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston is nearing the end of construction on its $90 million cancer and neurological center, projected to open next month, according to a Sun Sentinel report.
The Egil and Pauline Braathen Center will house both the Pauline Braathen Neurological Center and the Maroone Cancer Center in a new five-story, 143,000-square foot building, according to the report.
The new building responds to a growing patient load, according to the report.
Nestor Galvez-Jimenez, MD, chairman of the neurological institute at Cleveland Clinic Florida, said in the report the building offers patients a single location for all their appointments, physical therapy, treatment and tests.
The building has been under construction since November 2013. The new center will employ 80 new workers, and the Cleveland Clinic estimates the new centers will have a $6.4 million economic impact each year, according to the report.
