Shares of Community Health Systems closed Aug. 23 at $1.88, their lowest closing price ever and down 3.6 percent from the day prior.
The Franklin, Tenn.-based hospital chain's stock price traded as high as $1.96 on Aug. 23 after closing Aug. 22 at $1.95 per share. In the last year, CHS shares have traded between $1.81 and $5.35.
CHS, which operates 105 hospitals in 18 states, saw its net loss swell in the second quarter of 2019. The company ended the second quarter of this year with a net loss of $167 million on revenues of $3.3 billion. In the second quarter of 2018, CHS recorded a net loss of $110 million on revenue of $3.6 billion.
