Washington, D.C.-based Children's National Health System is working with Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner to integrate a suite of revenue cycle management solutions to its Cerner EHR.
The health system will integrate Cerner's Millennium Revenue Cycle, a patient-centric financial management offering. The integration aims to streamline the billing and collections process, allowing physicians to make updates throughout the patient's visit and enhance clinical documentation.
"Incorporating financial data with our clinical systems, all on the same platform, makes sense and provides an integrated billing, analytics and decision support experience," said Brian Jacobs, MD, vice president, chief medical information officer and CIO at Children's National.
Children's National and Cerner have been working together since 2005, when the health system implemented the Cerner Millennium EHR. In 2013, they furthered their relationship by entering into a multiyear strategic alignment to establish The Bear Institute, a pediatric health IT institute.
