The Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in Minneapolis and St. Paul has opened a nine-room, 100,000-square-foot pediatric pain and integrative care outpatient clinic in Minneapolis.
The Kiran Stordalen and Horst Rechelbacher Pediatric Pain, Palliative and Integrated Medicine Clinic provides medication and integrative, non-pharmaceutical therapies for children and adolescents, including acupuncture, aroma therapy, biofeedback, group therapy and physical therapy.
Stefan Friedrichsdorf, MD — the medical director of Children's department of pain medicine, palliative care and integrative medicine — expressed enthusiasm over the opening of the clinic.
"A space like this has never been designed inside a children's hospital anywhere – it's breath taking," said Dr. Friedrichsdorf. "It's an extraordinary step forward as we look to advance pain and symptom management care for kids in our community and beyond."
