Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives plans to save $11 million to $17 million by July 2015 through various cost savings projects, according to a report in Health Facilities Management.
CHI officials said the savings will come from reduced energy bills. They will target heating and cooling systems first, according to the report.
St. Vincent North, a Sherwood, Ark.-based hospital within CHI's St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock, Ark., will be one of the first to experience facility improvements. The hospital expects to cut energy costs by $76,000 per year, or 12 percent.
CHI will also use energy usage data provided through a group purchasing organization to monitor energy consumption across its 87 hospitals.
