Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, and Peak Health Solutions, will co-host a webinar later this month.
The webinar, scheduled for 2 p.m. EST April 12, will feature Career Step Vice President of Product Management Laurie McBrierty and Peak Vice President of Health Information Management Operations Mary S. Bessinger on how DRG shifts affect case mix index.
Specifically, the webinar will explore how to select DRGs to analyze and how to develop an approach for analyzing, according to a news release. Presenters will also talk about auditing approaches for DRG shifts and proven education approaches to evaluate and expand DRG skills.
"Before the ICD-10 transition, CMS predicted that the related DRG shift would be statistically insignificant. They expected it to impact less than one percent of cases," Ms. McBrierty said in a prepared statement. "Now, six months after implementation, DRG shifts appear to be having a much bigger impact than expected. Organizations want to develop a strategy to analyze DRG shifts and develop an action plan to understand the underlying cause of the shift."
Overall, the goal with the webinar is "to discuss ways organizations can evaluate different approaches to assist in development of the areas driving the DRG shifts," according to Ms. Bessinger.
This webinar is the result of the recent partnership between Career Step and Peak announced last month.
