Cash-challenged Jefferson City, Mo.-based Capital Region Medical Center has agreed to pay a $270,000 fee to a lender after failing to pay interest payments on some of its debt.
The so-called forbearance fee is in place of accrued unpaid interest on 2017 bonds for the period from Aug. 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023, according to the April 24 filing.
While Capital Region Medical Center has negotiated a short-term agreement until May 26, it is also in the process of negotiating a longer-term arrangement to deal with any outstanding debt with the lender.
The system said in February it would close two Missouri clinics, effective April 15.
