A decrease in patient revenues and an increase in certain costs caused Bristol (Conn.) Hospital's operating income to fall in 2015.
The hospital reported about $135.5 million in patient revenues in 2015, down from $142 million the year prior. Although the hospital saw emergency room and outpatient visits increase year-over-year in 2015, inpatient admissions were down last year.
Bristol Hospital saw costs associated with salaries and benefits increase last year, but it did cut its supplies costs by about $5 million in 2015 compared to the year prior.
Bristol Hospital ended 2015 with operating income of $532,664, down from $1 million in 2014. The hospital's net income also decreased last year, falling by 42.5 percent year over year.
