Major joint replacement is the condition with the highest number of healthcare providers participating in Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced, according to an Avalere analysis.
The BPCI Advanced payment model launched Oct. 1 includes 32 clinical episodes. Participants did not take on risk when BPCI Advanced launched but must do so to continue in the second phase of the model, which began March 1 and runs through Dec. 31, 2023.
Healthcare provider participation in BPCI Advanced declined 16 percent between last October and March 1, but nearly 1,300 providers are still participating.
