Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina has released pricing information for the individual health plans it will offer through the new health insurance exchange under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The insurer has announced statewide averages for 25-, 40- and 60-year-olds covered by bronze, silver, gold and platinum plans, as well as catastrophic coverage. For a 25-year-old with catastrophic coverage, monthly premiums will range from $145.18 to $159.54 on average. The premium rates don't take into account federal subsidies consumers may qualify for to help with the cost of their coverage. Other insurers offering coverage through the North Carolina individual exchange have yet to release their premium rates.
