Big Ten produced the most sitting CFOs: 5 things to know

The Big Ten Conference has produced more sitting CFOs of Fortune 500 and S&P 500 companies than any other undergraduate university conference, with 75 sitting CFOs who attended Big Ten universities for their undergraduate education, according to a Crist | Kolder Associates report.

Here are five findings from the report.

1. The Atlantic Coast Conference produced 45 sitting CFOs, the second most of any U.S. university conference, according to the report.

2. Forty-eight sitting CFOs of Fortune 500 and S&P 500 companies attended a foreign university for their undergraduate education.

3. Fourteen sitting CFOs attended Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania for their undergraduate education, more than any other university.

4. University of Notre Dame in Indiana was second on the list, producing 14 sitting CFOs of Fortune 500 and S&P 500 companies.

5. Indiana University in Bloomington and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign each produced 12 sitting CFOs. Stanford (Calif.) University rounded out the list of the top five schools for sitting CFOs, with 11 CFOs who attended Stanford for their undergraduate education.
