Beatrice (Neb.) Community Hospital and Health Center will undergo a $7.2 million expansion to create needed space at the facility, according to a Beatrice Daily Sun report.
The 17,500-square-foot expansion consists of a new building, which will be constructed north of the existing hospital. The building will be home to the Women and Children's Clinic and Infusion Center, according to the report.
"When we built the hospital, we did not anticipate growth in the areas we have grown, which are primarily our physician clinics," Tom Sommers, CEO of BCHHC, told the Beatrice Daily Sun. "Healthcare is moving more from an inpatient to an outpatient basis, and our clinics have grown over the last three years since we moved here. With the fact that we're still recruiting more physicians into the community, we really need room to meet the demands and be able to have clinic and office space for them."
The hospital is expected to break ground on the project this spring.
