Phoenix-based Banner Health closed its obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Casa Grande, Ariz., Feb. 16.
Regarding the closure, Jennifer Ruble, senior director of public relations at Banner, told Becker's, "We found that there was not adequate community need to support the clinic, and there were other high-quality providers in the area." She said Banner notified patients affected by the closure and helped transition them to other practices.
Banner Health recently announced it is laying off "a small number" of physicians, and some of the layoffs are due to the closure of the clinic in Casa Grande. The physician layoffs came after Banner eliminated some leadership positions in February and issued a second round of layoffs in early March.
