Arkansas' Baxter Regional, UnitedHealthcare Locked in Negotiation Stalemate

Contract negotiations between Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark., and health insurer UnitedHealthcare have reached a gridlock, and both groups have until Oct. 15 before the contract is terminated, according to a Baxter Bulletin report.

Up to 1,000 people in Baxter County with United Healthcare insurance could be affected, the report said.

BRMC, which has not had a reimbursement increase in three years from the payor, said its costs continue to climb, and it needs its insurance carriers to "provide competitive payments for service." Negotiations between the two parties have been ongoing for more than a year now, according to the report.
