Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage is beginning a $50 million upgrade, according to a KTUU 2 report.
The first phase of the project includes upgrades to the women's and newborn care unit and the addition of four rooms to the neonatal intensive care unit.
The hospital also plans on renovating the surgical unit, cardiovascular care center, pediatrics department and emergency department. The entire project is slated to be complete by mid-2016, according to the report.
