Alabama hospital to cut labor, delivery services

Grove Hill (Ala.) Memorial Hospital has shared plans to discontinue its labor and delivery services, effective at the end of the business day on Aug. 16.

The decision comes after the hospital's governing board decided on May 23 to transition to rural emergency hospital status, according to a July 10 post on the hospital's Facebook page.

The hospital will continue to offer emergency services as well as clinical laboratory, diagnostic imaging, respiratory therapy, IV therapy, and outpatient surgery.
