AHA, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Oppose ICD-10 Delay

The American Hospital Association and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association told Congress they oppose any delay of the October 2014 ICD-10 transition deadline, according to an AHA News Now report.

The organizations noted that ICD-10 is an important part of electronic health records and efforts to improve healthcare delivery. "Any delay in implementation threatens to increase costs, as investments already made will not be fully leveraged and may need to be duplicated," they told Congress, according to the report.
