8 RCM headlines to know in August

From two private equity firms striking a deal to acquire R1 RCM to Conifer lining up a contract to provide RCM services to five Alabama hospitals, here are eight revenue cycle management headlines that Becker's reported in August: 

1. Sue Perrotty, CEO of West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health, spoke with Becker's about overcoming revenue cycle challenges. 

2. Private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners signed a definitive agreement to acquire revenue cycle management company Knowtion Health.

3. Payers are delaying billions of dollars in payments by increasingly using requests for more information to initially deny claims from health systems and medical practices, according to a report from Kodiak Solutions

4. Greg Hoffman, CFO of Renton, Wash.-based Providence, told Becker's why the health system partnered with R1 RCM. 

5. Navient is selling its revenue cycle management company Xtend Healthcare to CorroHealth. 

6. Conifer Health Solutions, Tenet Healthcare's revenue cycle management arm, lined up a 10-year contract to provide services to five Alabama hospitals the health system plans to sell to Orlando (Fla.) Health.

8. Private equity firms TowerBrook Capital Partners and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice are acquiring R1 RCM in a deal valued at $8.9 billion. Former R1 CEO Joe Flanagan will return to the role after the deal closes.
