Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente is set to open its new North Hospital in Harbor City, Calif., next month, according to The Daily Breeze.
The four-story replacement facility is one of the first facilities built in California since the state enacted its new seismic safety standards.
Here are five things to know about the planned hospital.
1. It will be home to a new emergency department, patient rooms and imaging.
2. It will replace the old hospital building, which dates back to the late 1950s.
3. It is part of an overall campus improvement project at Kaiser Permanente South Bay. The project includes new outdoor park spaces, additional parking and state-of-the-art medical services.
4. It features an expanded 24-hour emergency room with nearly 40 private treatment areas, 140 private patient rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite (including a digital breast center) and "room service-style meals" for patients.
5. It also includes a healing garden and Wi-Fi access for patients and visitors.
