5 providers battle for NC pharmacy benefits contract

Five companies placed bids Monday to provide pharmacy benefit management services for the N.C. State Health Plan for teachers and state employees.

The health plan provides care coverage to more than 680,000 teachers, local school personnel, state employees, retirees, current and former lawmakers, state university and community college faculty and staff as well as their dependents.

Companies that submitted bids include Chicago-based Blue Cross Blue Shield, Woonstock, R.I-based CVS Health, Scottsdale, Ariz.-based MagellanRx Management, Schaumburg, Ill.-based Catamaran, LLC and St. Louis, Mo.-based Express Scripts.
