Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare awarded $234,000 in grants to five health organizations in Kansas to improve access to rural healthcare.
The five healthcare organizations — Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas in Pittsburg, Southeast Kansas Independent Living Center in Parsons, Community Health Ministry in Wamego, Minneola District Hospital and Reno County Health Department — received between $45,000 to $48,000 to improve access to rural healthcare through various methods.
The five grants are part of UnitedHealthcare's Frontier Rural Health Care grant program, which funds organizations striving to improve rural healthcare.
"UnitedHealthcare's goal was to seek out innovative, compassionate, hands-on programs when selecting grant partners," said Kevin Sparks, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas. "We are grateful for the opportunity to support the work of these organizations that are helping Kansans live healthier lives. Together, we are improving access to care across our state."
