There are three main ways for hospitals to find cost savings in economies of scale, according to an infographic from Objective Health.
The first is to expand patient volume, the second is to specialize in particular service lines and the third is to integrate with other health systems.
"In this infographic, we see that growing overall facility volume doesn't result in economies of scale," according to Objective Health. "But we see a different story when we look at a more micro level (service line specialization) and a more macro level (increased system size)."
