Williamson (W.Va.) Memorial Hospital, which is reorganizing through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, has laid off 20 employees, according to WYMT.
The hospital said the furlough will not affect patient care and it hopes that the layoffs will be temporary.
"After a comprehensive evaluation process, the hospital has developed a new, streamlined structure that is more appropriate considering current volumes," the hospital told WYMT. "Unfortunately, this process resulted in several difficult, but necessary organizational changes, including the furlough of 20 of our employees."
The West Virginia hospital filed for bankruptcy last October, about 17 months after being divested by Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
