Becker's has reported on 11 healthcare organizations that outsourced finance jobs or other revenue cycle functions since Aug. 25.
1. Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health System announced Jan. 19 that it is sending 340 revenue cycle department employees to Ensemble Health Partners' payroll as part of a plan to boost the system's financial stability. The employees who are transitioning will maintain their current salary and seniority when the change goes into effect March 5.
2. Owensboro (Ky.) Health selected Optum Jan. 10 to manage its revenue cycle operations and IT services. Optum is hiring 575 employees from the health system.
3. Maine-based Northern Light Health tapped Optum Jan. 5 to manage its revenue cycle management, information systems, inpatient care management, analytics, project management office and supply chain functions. In March, 1,400 of the system's employees will become employed by Optum.
4. Annapolis, Md.-based Luminis Health tapped VisiQuate Dec. 15 to manage its revenue cycle management operations. Through the five-year partnership, Luminis will deploy VisiQuate's denials management, revenue management and reverse analytics tools.
5. Dayton (Ohio) Children's Hospital on Dec. 1 tapped artificial intelligence-powered analytics company VisiQuate to provide the hospital with billing analytics. The hospital aims for the four-year partnership to decrease claims denials, accelerate revenue and enable more equitable contractual agreements.
6. Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals West Monroe (La.) chose CareCloud Nov. 29 to handle its revenue cycle management services. Cornerstone aims for the partnership to maximize revenue capture and reduce labor costs and billing errors.
7. Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health System selected Ensemble Health Partners Nov. 2 to optimize its revenue cycle operations. Valley Health said it is working to rebound from financial losses due to lower procedural volumes, supply chain issues and staffing challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
8. Chicago-based Sinai Medical Group selected Conifer Health Solutions Oct. 20 for a five-year revenue cycle management partnership. The partnership involves full engagement, with a focus on clinical documentation improvement and coding.
9. West Burlington, Iowa-based Great River Health said Oct. 4 it is outsourcing medical coding to Omega Healthcare, effective Nov. 1. Omega has offered the 35 affected employees permanent, full-time positions at similar compensation and benefits packages.
10. Bloomington, Minn.-based Emergency Physicians Professional Association tapped R1 RCM Aug. 31 to be its exclusive revenue cycle services provider. The independently owned physician group serves more than 600,000 patients annually across 11 hospitals and medical centers as well as three urgency room locations.
11. Pittsburgh-based St. Clair Health on Aug. 25 selected R1 RCM to serve as its primary end-to-end revenue cycle management provider for the next 10 years. About 150 St. Clair Health revenue cycle employees will be offered comparable positions, pay and benefits with R1 RCM.
