10 States With Highest, Lowest Uninsured Rates Post PPACA

Analysts from WalletHub, a personal finance social network, have provided a projection of the uninsured rates in 43 states and D.C. post Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The analysts used data concerning the proportion of private health plan enrollees who previously lacked health insurance, the number of new Medicaid recipients and the number of new private plan enrollees to provide the projection.

States with the highest uninsured rate post PPACA

1. Texas — 24.81 percent

2. Mississippi — 21.46 percent

3. Louisiana — 20.91 percent

4. Florida — 19.61 percent

5. New Mexico — 19.59 percent

6. Nevada — 19.58 percent

8. Alaska — 18.96 percent

9. Wyoming — 18.29 percent

10. Georgia — 18.16 percent

States with the lowest uninsured rates post PPACA

1. Massachusetts — 1.20 percent

2. Rhode Island — 5.60 percent

3. District of Columbia — 6.29 percent

4. Hawaii — 6.35 percent

5. Oregon — 6.38 percent

6. West Virginia — 6.59 percent

7. Minnesota — 6.61 percent

8. Iowa — 7.47 percent

9. Washington — 8.27 percent

10. Kentucky — 8.95 percent
