Wisconsin children's hospital kicks off fundraising for expansion

Green Bay, Wis.-based HSHS St. Vincent Children's Hospital is seeking contributions to its "Join the Fight" fundraising to upgrade its emergency care and pediatric intensive care facilities, according to local ABC TV affiliate WBAY.

The first phase of "Join the Fight" raised $7 million, and the hospital is looking to raise an additional $3 million by the end of the year.

"We will redesign the layout of pediatric and pediatric ICU to better meet needs of patients, providers and colleagues," said Heidi Warpinski, executive director at St. Vincent.

The renovation will include "all patient rooms and allow more space for families and caregivers as well, add more patient rooms to pediatric ICU to help us serve those patients because of the demand of that level for specialized care, plus, a new lounge," Ms. Warpinski said.

Construction is expected to start in the fall and be completed by the summer of 2020.
