Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, N.C., broke ground this week on its $17 million expansion project, slated for completion next summer, according to a local news report from WITN.
With emergency department volumes more than double since Vidant Beaufort's last expansion, the hospital decided it needed to expand and upgrade its facility, according to the report.
The hospital will first build a 9,000 square foot expansion to its ED and then reconstruct the existing ED. Once the project is finished, it will add four hospital beds and additional privacy for ED patients, according to the report.
