UPMC Susquehanna in Williamsport, Pa., purchased a three-building former retail plaza in McElhattan, Pa., with the goal of using the space for future healthcare services.
UPMC Susquehanna made the $5 million purchase June 23.
"We have always had a positive relationship with our neighbors in Clinton County," Ron Reynolds, vice president of Clinton County operations at UPMC Susquehanna, said. "Today we commit to providing them with more healthcare services with the quality they have come to expect from UPMC Susquehanna. Above all, having a convenient location with ample parking already in place allows us to quickly reinvest to improve access, enhance care and grow needed outpatient service for our patients."
UPMC Susquehanna does not yet know details on how they will use the retail plaza, but the organization plans to collaborate with Lock Haven (Pa.) University to complete a Clinton County community health needs assessment over the coming months. Those results will help the hospital determine the healthcare services it will offer at the retail plaza site.
Hospital officials said, "The goal is to involve other community partners to create a new destination for health and wellness services at the UPMC Susquehanna McElhattan location."
