The New York State Department of Health approved Jamestown, N.Y.-based UPMC Chautauqua WCA's proposed $23 million expansion of its maternity department and inpatient psychiatric units, according to a Buffalo Business First report.
Officials issued approval Feb. 7 for the two-story addition above the hospital's emergency department. The project will put labor and delivery, post-partum and nursery services and an operating room on the third floor. The fourth floor space will be allocated for an inpatient psychiatric unit with a 10-bed adolescent unit and a 20-bed adult unit, relocated from another campus, according to the report.
UPMC Chautauqua WCA also filed plans to expand its cardiac catheterization program to extend its electrophysiology services. DOH officials have yet to review the proposal.
