Louisville, Ky.-based Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital recently completed a $9 million renovation and expansion of its emergency department.

More than 75 percent of patients admitted to Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital first come to the ED, compared to the national average of about 50 percent, according to the report. The project is expected to improve the overall workflow of the ED and reduce patient wait times.
