St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, based in Memphis, Tenn., plans to construct a $412 million research center to accelerate the pace of discoveries and scientific breakthroughs.
The 625,000-square-foot center, expected to open in 2021, will house specialized labs, technologies and resources to advance research at the facility. It is part of a larger $1 billion capital investment and expansion project on the research hospital's campus.
"[The] advanced research center has been customized to inspire and support researchers who seek to lead and collaborate," said James Morgan, PhD, St. Jude scientific director and executive vice president. "We have committed critical resources to equip the brightest minds in science with the world's most sophisticated technologies and equipment so that we can continue to speed discoveries that will save children."
The groundbreaking for the facility is slated for spring 2018.
