St. David's South Austin (Texas) Medical Center will begin construction in mid 2017 on a $58 million expansion, reports American Statesman.
The project includes an expanded emergency department, additional patient rooms and additional parking, according to the report.
To support the expanded facility, St. David's will initially hire 50 new full-time employees, "with the expectation that the number of positions will double within five years," said Todd Steward, CEO of the hospital.
The original capital investment for the expansion was $50 million, but the expansion of the parking garage bumped the cost up $8 million, hospital officials told the American Statesman.
Construction is expected to finish in 2019, according to the report.
