San Angelo, Texas-based Shannon Medical Center and Angelo State University, also in San Angelo, declared their intent to build an on-campus sports medicine clinic, according to the Standard Times.
The facility, University Sports Medicine Clinic — Shannon-Clinic-Jackson, is set to be completed in March 2018.
According to the agreement, Shannon Medical Center will fund the entire $9 million cost, while ASU will supply the land for the clinic.
The facility will house:
- Eight physicians
- Two radiology rooms
- A lab draw room
- A 5,000-square-foot sports medicine and physical therapy center
- A 5,000-square-foot area for ASU athletic training staff
Officials said the facility will also house a walk-in clinic for family care. Construction on the clinic is expected to begin in February.
