Seton Smithville (Texas) Regional Hospital is collaborating with two other partners on a new medical complex to better allocate resources and consolidate medical services into one area, according to The Statesman.
The new facility will retain eight of the acute care beds, along with emergency services, surgery, diagnostic imaging, labs and cardiopulmonary services formerly at the hospital. The new space will also hold the Seton Family of Doctors medical clinic, which will be relocated to the back of the facility, according to the article.
Directors of the Smithville Hospital Authority board approved plans for the complex. A third partner, Family Health Center of Bastrop in Texas, will also build a facility near the new clinic, providing additional family patient services.
Authority board president Bill Hector said a local nursing home will also be rebuilt on property behind the new facility currently owned by Smithville Hospital Authority.
SetonSmithvilleRegionalHospital administrator Robbie Rabe said the hospital is also considering other improvements, including expanding the hospital's cafeteria, deploying golf carts on the property to help patients move around and constructing a walking path and park to aid patients in rehabilitation.
