Saint Clare's Health System plans to reduce services at its health center in Sussex, N.J., according to a New Jersey Herald report.
Here are six things to know.
1. The change is slated to take effect next month.
2. As part of the change, the health center, which was once a hospital and currently serves as a satellite emergency and outpatient center, will become an urgent and primary care facility, according to the report.
3. The facility's hours will also be scaled back. Previously, the facility has operated from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, but under the change its hours will shift from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays, according to the report.
4. Jan Bednar, BSN, RN, CNO of Saint Clare's, told the New Jersey Herald the facility won't be able to do CAT scans anymore but will still have X-ray capabilities.
"We will be able to take care of everything from rashes, bruises and sprains to lacerations, coughing, upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections and even broken bones," she said, adding the facility will also offer blood test capabilities, among other services.
5. However, Ms. Bednar told the publication seriously ill patients would likely be transported to another facility in the area.
6. Overall, St. Clare's attributes the change to accommodating the needs of community residents.
