Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, N.J., said its vascular laboratory is now located in a newly renovated space.
The hospital, part of West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health, recently relocated the laboratory to the hospital's lobby level. It was previously located on the second floor.
RWJUH Somerset said the relocation is an initial step in its long-term cardiology expansion project. Other parts of the five-year project include "converting 20 patient rooms on the cardiology unit to private rooms" as well as "adding new waiting and holding areas for testing and procedural areas," among other initiatives. In the end, the hospital said cardiology services will all be located on the second floor of the hospital.
RWJUH Somerset's vascular laboratory provides an array of services, such as ultrasound and Doppler technology "to test for diseases of the blood vessels, including peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease."
"Our newly renovated vascular laboratory provides easy access to leading medical care for patients with vascular disease and we offer a full range of non-invasive, painless tests to promote the early detection and management of vascular disease close to home," Obi Imegwu, MD, medical director of the vascular lab, said in a prepared statement.
