A physician has launched the only membership-based, insurance-free practice in Nebraska, offering unlimited consultations and office visits for a monthly fee, The Lincoln Journal Star reported.
Access Family Medicine in Lincoln, Neb., opened in mid-July and is the first practice of its kind in the state. Patients receive direct primary care by paying a monthly fee staggered by age — $50 per month for younger adults, $75 for middle-aged adults and $100 for seniors.
While almost all participating patients have insurance, Access Family Medicine's operator Todd Johnson, DO, does not process health insurance paperwork or payments. In addition, the practice does not charge co-pays or deductibles. Patients also receive a minimum 30-minute visit, access to a physician any day of the week, no extra cost annual physical exams and wholesale costs for some treatments.
