Phoenix Children's Hospital to open $40M ED

Phoenix Children's Hospital will open its $40 million emergency department and trauma center Sept. 20, according to ABC 15.

The new facility was designed to accommodate an additional 73,000 patients per year, cut down on travel time from the air ambulance to a trauma room and add enough space for six ambulances.

In addition, the new ED and trauma center includes outer and interior corridors to separate the walkways for hospital staff and families to ensure faster, more consistent check-ups and additional privacy.

"This [building] is going to make a difference. This is going to save lives," David Notrica, MD, the trauma center's director, told ABC 15.
