Nyack (N.Y.) Hospital gained approval for its $22.2 million emergency department and outpatient facility expansion, the largest upgrade in the hospital's history, reports The Journal News.
Nyack's ED treats around 60,000 patients per year, though its capacity is only about 35,000. The two-story, 16,300-square-foot addition will address the influx of emergency department patients. Nyack will also build a medical village outpatient center for primary and specialty health providers.
Construction, slated to begin in late fall 2017, will take place in stages to not interrupt services. The hospital aims for an early 2018 completion.
