Since finalizing their joint venture in January, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health and Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System are renaming their facilities to reflect the new partnership, according to the Washington Business Journal.
The new relationship brings the community hospitals from both health systems together to create a new, expanded regional health system.
While the new names cement the joint venture, some of them are a mouthful. For instance, Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center has been renamed NovantHealthUVAHealthSystemHaymarketMedicalCenter, and the Novant Health PrinceWilliamMedicalCenter is now called the Novant Health UVA Health System PrinceWilliamMedicalCenter, according to the report.
All Novant Health properties — including primary and specialty care, express care and urgent care locations — have received new names.
Novant Health has 60 percent ownership of the joint venture, while UVA Health System holds 40 percent, the Washington Business Journal reported.
The partnership aims to connect Novant's patients to the academic medical system's subspecialty care and clinical trials and expand Novant's healthcare access points, according to the report.
