New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health on Sept. 30 opened the new Sandra Atlas Bass Center for Liver Diseases in Manhasset, N.Y.
The $4.5 million, 10,000-square-foot center was established to care for the growing population of patients living with diseases of the liver, which affect an estimated 30 million Americans. The new facility, named after Sandra Atlas Bass, a longtime donor to Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park and the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in Manhasset, also houses the North Shore University Hospital's Division of Hepatology.
The facility features a separate entrance and patient parking, on-site blood drawing and testing services, eight exam rooms, a treatment room and a multimedia educational center, which will accommodate researcher and clinician conferences and educational forums for doctoral candidates, fellows, residents and medical students.
