Construction is underway at Memorial Medical Center in La Cruces, N.M., on a $15 million expansion on its cancer center, reports Las Cruces Sun-News.
The expansion will be adjacent to the existing MMC Cancer Center and Ikard Radiation Oncology facilities on the hospital's main campus. The decision to expand the cancer center was based on increasing demand for cancer services in the area. The center has nearly doubled its number of patients in the past five years.
The cancer center is fully operational during construction, which began in May. The project is expected to be completed in early 2018.
